Tuesday Tunes: Frank Ocean

Last week, New Orleans native Frank Ocean took to his Tumblr to drop his new album channel ORANGE.  Ocean's debut album is, in our opinion, brilliant.

He's written songs for the Biebs, Beyonce, and Jay-Z, and we got a taste of his vocals on his single Novocaine, but to finally hear a full length album was a treat. channel ORANGE is packed with dope melodies and beats and cameos by Andre 3000 and John Mayer. But above all, it's a thoughtful album in which Ocean touches on deeper issues on tracks like Super Rich Kids and Crack Rock. It's an album you can listen to from start to finish, over and over, and we've already dubbed it one of the best albums of 2012.

Yes, it's that good, but you don't need to take our word for it...The full album is available to stream here or here.

Of course, a Frank Ocean post wouldn't be complete without mention of his highly controversial Tumblr post in which he revealed his sexuality in an open letter about a relationship with a man.  While many have criticized Ocean for the timing of the revelation as a means to generate publicity, we respect Ocean for his honesty and ability to open up about a private subject in an industry that is not always the most accepting.

Although it's tough to pick just one favorite song, Lost is a standout to us. Check it out below and let us know what you think!

And if you're one of the lucky ones to have purchased tickets to tonight's sold out show at the Wiltern, ENJOY!!!
